Sending an email to a coach is there first impression of you. You need to make sure it includes information about you in a precise format. The subject line is the most important, it is the words that coaches see in their inbox. You need to make it stand out and let coaches know who you are. You don't want to put to much information like your times because then coaches will not open it the majority of the time. You need to give them a taste and want to open the email.
Below is a format that you can use for the subject line of your email!
[Name], Class of [Year of Graduation], [Your main stroke(s)]
Ex. Holden Brown, Class of 2026, Fly/Free
Below is a nice format and example to follow when you are sending out a first email to coaches. Make sure all the information you are sending is needed, you don't want any unnecessary parts in the email. Also, before you send the email triple check for spelling and grammar mistakes as these will give a bad impression to the coach.
